The old walls that divided the former house into bedrooms and living room space have been removed. A new wood floor is nearing completion in the open area of what soon will be the Benton County Nature Center.

Benton County Conservation Director led Vinton Today on a brief tour of the building this week. He said the work his progressing well, and that the Benton County Conservation Foundation is preparing a fund-raising campaign to help cover the cost of the renovation as well as the educational displays.

The new building will also serve as the office area for Huber and Naturalist Karen Phelps.

Heber said there have been a few minor modifications in the building as the work progressed. He said he is pleased with the progress and the anticipated results. There is not yet an opening date set for the new building.
