The Vinton Parks and Recreation Department broke ground for the new Splash Pad construction. The new Splash Pad will be located at the Kiwanis Park located at the junction of Highway 218 and 13th St. in Vinton.

On hand for the celebration were Matt Boggess, Director of the Vinton Parks and Recreation Department, Mayor Bud Maynard and several members of the Kiwanis club, as well as the staff of VPRD. Fundraising for the project has spanned the last 3 or 4 years Boggess said in his remarks.

If you see the stakes around the park, those are marking water lines and etc. needed for the construction of the project.

The park will be getting a much needed makeover, Some of the old playground equipment and replacing it with something new, and updating the rest of the equipment next year. There will also be a new shelter added sometimes this fall.

It is hoped that the Splash Pad will be open for fun and splashing in a couple of months!
