The usual three day weekend of festivities will be scaled back to just an evening for the annual Party in the Park.

The event will be held on Saturday, August 1st, beginning at 6:30 p.m. Kicking off the evening will be the rock band The Empty Pockets who will bring a live music concert to Riverside Park. You will enjoy old-school classic rock, folk and the blues. The group has collaborated with Kenny Loggins, AI Stewart, Simon Kirke (Bad Co), Richie Furay (Buffalo Springfield), Mark Bryan (Hootie & the Blowfish), and Bob Schneider. They've toured with Melissa Etheridge, Dickey Betts (Allman Brothers), Dave Mason (Traffic), George Lopez (Comedian), Patty Smyth and Marc Cohn. They've been featured on SiriusXM, PBS, NPR Radio, WGN American and SXSW.

Following the concert, there will be a fireworks show provided by Bar Y Pyros.

During the event, there will be several food vendors at the park including the Vinton Lions Club

Vinton's Park and Recreation Department will also be live streaming the event on their Facebook Page for those that might not feel comfortable attending.
