For years, Tess Noeller, Maddie Springer, Liz Moen, Emma Horst, Nikki Thompson and Emma Lippmann have been singing in a variety of programs at Vinton-Shellsburg schools, and in other places.

Now, their talent and experience has given them an opportunity to represent their high school at the one of the most prestigious fine arts events in Iowa.

The six are members of the Musical Theatre team that was chosen for the All-State festival. They sing and dance two numbers from the 'Legally Blonde' musical.

The girls began working with director Marcy Horst on their performance in December. Horst chose the routine and the girls went to work on making it as much like the musical as possible. Tess Noeller found a Youtube site that had the dance numbers on that, and shared it with the others.

They perform "Bend and Snap" and "Omigod you guys."

The girls said the judges at the Large Group State Speech event last Saturday liked their routine but advised them to add more "snap." So they did.

The girls earned a Division 1 rating Saturday; on Monday they learned they had been chosen to perform in the All-State Speech Festival on Feb. 19.
