Doug Sayers did not just juggle for the Pack 47 Cub Scouts and their families Friday evening; he taught them the basics of juggling so they, too, could try to learn the trade.
Sayers, was one of only eight contestants chosen for the International Jugglers Association contest in 2009. He won.
On Friday, he told the Cub Scout families that he was only in the second grade when he saw his first juggling routine. He was soon juggling on his own; now, 14 years after he first watched a juggler, juggling is his full-time job.
Sayers performs all over the U.S. He said his largest audience was at an Iowa wrestling tournament, where there were 13,000 in the crowd. He also recently spent several days in New York, teaching the basics of juggling to young school children.
He gave a shorter lesson to the Cub Scouts Friday, explaining how to begin with one ball, and then adding one at a time. Now, Sayers can juggle up to nine balls at a time.
