Mike Svoboda and his wife Joyce have been collecting antiques for 25 years.

Dan and Dee Svoboda have been collecting them for a half century, says Mike.

Together the four of them are sharing their love of antiques Vinton's newest store, The Hope Chest. The store is across the street from the Vinton Palace, at 217 West Fourth Street.

The store has a variety of items that are old, new, and both. There are many antiques, along with many new home decor items. And there are new things that Mike and Dan create from wood from old farm buildings. One of Mike's favorite pieces is a table and bench set that he made from salvaged lumber.

There will be an Grand Opening Saturday, with giveaways, refreshments and more. The business is open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. from Tuesday through Saturday, and until 8 p.m. on Thursdays.
