Students in second through sixth grade have the chance to win a $200 savings bond for showing Iowa bankers what they think about money. As part of Money Smart Week 2011, elementary students can submit poster designs to banks and credit unions across Iowa.

Posters should answer the question: “There’s a lot to learn about money. What should you know now?”

“Iowa’s community bankers see financial education as an important part of elementary students’ learning,” said Donald Hole, executive director for Community Bankers of Iowa (CBI). “As a Money Smart Week partner, our association wants to provide students an opportunity to show what they know about money. “ CBIA is partnering with DynaMinds Publishing to promote Money Smart Week to elementary students.

The contest is open to students in grades two through six. The winning poster designer will receive a $200 savings bond. The deadline to enter the poster contest is April 1. Complete rules and submission guidelines are available at www.cbiaonline.org.

Money Smart Week is April 2-9. More than 140 participating community groups, financial institutions, government agencies, educational organizations, and financial experts will host more than 136 free educational events to help Iowans of all ages learn to better manage their personal finances. More information about Money Smart Week – including a full calendar of events – is available at www.moneysmartweek.org/iowa.
