When you think of the Kiwanis in Vinton, you might think of the park. Or the Easter egg hunt. Or the pancake breakfast. Or you might remember Santa visiting special students in the school district. Or you might think of the Bike Rodeo. Or you might think of the scholarships awarded to seniors.
If you are in 2nd grade you might be thinking that next year YOU get a dictionary! Area Kiwanis Kim Meyer and Lexa Spiedel presented students in the 3rd grade with their very own dictionaries. It's an annual event and kids get to take the books home with them to use.
The dictionaries also have fun facts included inside the covers about presidents, the longest word, the words to the Star-Spangled Banner, braille and sign language and a host of other tidbits of information.
The Shellsburg students received their books on Wednesday and Vinton students went home with their books on Thursday.
