News : Cub Scouts Pack 47 hold Arrow of Light Ceremony for Carter Smith

Cub Scout Pack 47 held the Arrow of Light ceremony recognizing one of their own, Carter Smith the son of Cody and Melissa. Carter has completed all of the ranks of the Cub Scouts. He will now be moving on to the Boy Scout Troop.

The Blue and Gold Banquet and Arrow of Light Ceremony celebrated Carter's achievements in the Cub Scouts.

In 2019 membership in the Cub and Boy Scouts ran approximately 1.97 million, and in 2020 it went to 1.12 million a 43% plunge. The Associated Press reported in June of last year that the numbers have fallen to 762,000. 

The Scouts require a community of both leaders and parents to keep the program running. The program teaches children how to work together as well as how to become future leaders.

The Arrow of Light, the highest rank in Cub Scouting, prepares a Webelos Scout (a Cub Scout of the fifth rank who is at least in the 5th grade and 10¹/₂ years old) to join a Boy Scouts of America troop. Fifth Grade Scouts must complete four required adventures, plus one elective adventure from the Webelos handbook, and complete the Cyber Chip award for their age.
