The Homelessness Prevention and Rapid Re-Housing Program (HPRP) is designed to provide financial assistance and services to either prevent households from becoming homeless or help those experiencing homelessness to be quickly re-housed. Come to Wesley UMC 516 2nd Ave in Vinton on Wednesday, April 13 from 9 to noon or 1 to 4pm to see if you qualify for help.
You MAY be eligible if you:
- Are homeless or at “imminent risk” of becoming homeless (pending eviction, living in a car or abandoned building or other place not meant for human habitation, in shelter or transitional housing, exiting a correctional or medical institution after a long stay)
- Are not currently receiving housing subsidies
- Have a history of income, a current source of income or potential source of income to sustain housing if provided with this short-term assistance
- Your household income does not exceed 50% of the Area Median Income.
The HPRP staff will help determine your eligibility. No appointment is necessary, but you do need to bring a photo ID for all adults in the household, a current lease, eviction notice and/or utility disconnect notice, and income verification for all adults in the household.
HPRP is a program of the Hawkeye Area Community Action Program, Inc. (HACAP). HACAP is an equal opportunity agency and a United Way member agency. For more information, call 472-2581.
