March 15, 2022 - An interchange grading and paving project at the intersection of U.S. 30 and Iowa 21 will require closing Iowa 21 north of U.S. 30, near Elberon, and south of U.S. 30, near Belle Plaine, from 7 a.m. Monday, March 28, until Fall 2023, weather permitting, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation's Marshalltown construction office.

During this closure, traffic will be detoured around the work zone (see map) from the north and south of U.S. 30. The north detour route will use Benton County roads E-44 and V-42. The south detour route will use Benton County road E-66 and V-40.

The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey the posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles, and wear seat belts.
