News : New advisor, same auctioneer for FFA Labor Auction Thursday

Mrs. Fleming at '10 auction; she will lead '11 event.

Last year, during the Vinton-Shellsburg FFA Labor Auction, Louise Fleming sat with her family in the audience. She had just been selected to replace Duane Fisher as the FFA advisor and ag teacher.

This week, Mrs. Fleming will lead her first Labor Auction as FFA advisor. The event takes place in the VSHS gym at 7 p.m. Thursday evening.

Last year's event set a new record, largely because several FFA supporters organized a special auction for Mr. Fisher in the last of his 37 years as FFA advisor.

Duane Johnson will continue the tradition, calling the auction has he has done for decades. Approximately 25 FFA members will be "sold," with the high bidders paying the FFA chapter for the members' work.
