A trial in the case of a Benton County woman's death has been postponed. Samantha Bevans' defense has requested a delay for the beginning of the trial. Originally scheduled for November 7, the Benton County Attorney had no issues with the request. A new date will be set. Bevans is being accused of killing her stepmother, Jodie Bevans last July.
An accomplice Tacoa Talley, is also being accused of the murder. Prosecutors also filed a motion of their intent to try the two suspects separately, which was also granted by the court.
Jodie was found in her home in Palo, unresponsive. An autopsy was later conducted and ruled the manner of her death was a homicide.
In the criminal complaint, officials reported that Samantha Bevans made threats to harm her stepmother Jodie. Bevans had also written on her plans for that Thursday was to "Kill Jodie." A search warrant for Snapchat showed that Samantha created a video where she admitted to the killing. Witnesses also reported that they overheard Samantha telling of the killing describing how Jodie had been choked and suffocated with a pillow. She later admitted to police that she had an accomplice which officials alleged was Talley.
