On Saturday, October 22nd, the Vinton-Shellsburg FFA Chapter held its second annual Feed the Farmers event. Members began setting up at their locations around 10 A.M. and served until 2 P.M. Members set up stations at both the Tama-Benton Co-op and the Shellsburg Elevator. The Chapter prepared a lunch that consisted of a Hamburger, Baked Beans, Potato Salad, Chips, a Cookie, and Water. Each meal also came with a Thank You letter from the Tilford Elementary Students, a Coozie, and an Iowa Corn Growers paper.

The VS-FFA Chapters' goal was to show just how much they all appreciate everything that the farmers do for everybody and to show just a small portion of that. They felt that serving farmers a nice meal would be greatly appreciated. Creating a nice meal for the farmers wouldn't have been possible without the sponsorships from partner organizations like the Iowa Corn Growers, Farmers Savings Bank, Pioneer Seeds, McKenna Lawn and Landscape, Schminke Equipment, The McKenna Family, and The Schminke Family.

In total, the Chapter served close to 200 meals between the two locations and was very proud of the turnout that they had. Thank you farmers for all your hard work again this harvest season!
