On Tuesday, September 5th, the V-S FFA had their annual Local Greenhand Fire-Up. With anticipation for extending the scope of the chapter, FFA Officers and advisors prepared for the first-ever Local Greenhand Fire-Up with the addition of the middle school students.
They planned activities for the Greenhands such as ice breakers, food quality, official dress relays, communication games, FFA trivia, and many more. Laughter filled the hallways as the students were learning at the different stations.
When all was said and done, 37 Middle and High School Greenhands showed up to the event. "I really enjoyed how the event was set up, it ran smoothly and I learned a lot. I also really enjoyed the games because me and my friends got competitive." is how Presley Waters described her experience at the Fire-Up.
When the night came to an end, it was safe to say the Greenhands were surprised at how fast the time went. To end the night, ten members were drawn through a door prize to go home with some FFA swag.
The officer team thinks it's safe to say that the Greenhands of Vinton-Shellsburg are fired up for their FFA experience.
