The last year of the residential program at the Iowa Braille School and Sight-Saving School did not end with a graduation. The school only had five students this year, and no seniors. Instead of a commencement, the year ended with a brief awards ceremony.

However, the annual reunion of IBSSS alumni is still scheduled to take place at the school the second weekend in June. For more information on the reunion click HERE. Recent reunions have included graduates as far back as the 1930s.

The closing of the school has been in the news for the past several years, and the announcement of the official end of the residential program that began in the late 1800s and included students as famous as Mary Ingalls has again put the Iowa Braille and Sight Saving School in the news. See an Associate Press story on the closing HERE.
