News : Staff and Weather Update & Board information

As we prepare for the impending winter storm, I want to inform you of the necessary precautions we are taking to ensure the safety of our students, staff, and community.

Due to the anticipated severe weather conditions, all schools within the district will be closed on Tuesday, January 9th. Our buildings and grounds team will be commencing the first round of snow plowing at 7:00 am on Tuesday morning, continuing through the day, with a second round of plowing scheduled for Wednesday morning. We anticipate potential impacts from blowing snow into Wednesday morning, which could result in delays or cancellations depending on the severity of the drifting.

To keep our school community informed, I will be sending a message to our families around 2:30 pm regarding the cancellation of Tuesday's classes. Additionally, please note that all today's competitions and middle school practices have been canceled. High school practices will proceed immediately after school and will conclude by 5:30 pm. However, all activities scheduled for Tuesday and Wednesday morning are also canceled.

The safety of our students and staff is our top priority, and we appreciate your understanding and cooperation during these weather-related challenges. If you are not one of our employees helping clear the snow, please do not come to the school Tuesday as it is difficult to clear snow around vehicles. Please take all necessary precautions and stay safe with the upcoming storm.

The school board held a special session this morning to approve a few personnel items and a resolution for at-risk/dropout prevention fundings:

Transfers/Contract Modifications
Jay Bridgewater- Transfer to Head 10th Grade Softball Coach (from Head 9th Grade Softball). Coach Bridgewater's contract pay amount will increase from 8% to 9%.
Megan Hesson- Increase her Head Girls Soccer Coach Contract pay from 8% to the original 10% because we are not hiring a 2nd Assistant Coach.
Danielle Phippen- Increase her Assistant Girls Soccer Coach Contract pay from 6% to the original 7% because we are not hiring a 2nd Assistant Coach.

At-Risk Dropout Prevention Resolution Approval
The board approved the Request for Modified Supplemental Growth for its dropout prevention program for 2024-25 school year, in the estimated amount of $369,320.00 subject to final approval by the School Budget Review Committee. The following assumptions were used: district cost per pupil ($7,635) X 10/1/2022 certified enrollment (1621.4) X 0.03 (maximum modified supplemental amount). The requested MSA and required match will solely be used for the purpose of implementing the district's board-adopted at-risk/dropout program.
