The Vinton-Shellsburg Band was honored for its academic achievement, as well as its outstanding musical season which included Division 1 ratings throughout the year and a repeat trip to the Iowa High School Jazz Championships.
Each band section earned a "Distinguished" honor, representing an average GPA of 3.25 to 4.
The Vinton-Shellsburg mixed choir earned an "Excellence" honor, representing an average GPA of 3.00 to 3.24.
Athletic teams at VSHS also earning the "Excellence" award include baseball, softball, boys and girls golf, girls soccer and girls track.
