Parents of middle school students in the Vinton-Shellsburg School District received notice that a student had issued a threat on Monday. However, the school reassured parents that the threat had been investigated..

The notification from the school reads,

"Following the conclusion of school today we had notice of a possible threat at the middle school. I want to commend the students who came forward with this information; their swift action allowed us to respond immediately.

The school and law enforcement investigated. We feel comfortable that there is not a threat, and the school and law enforcement investigated.

We feel comfortable that there is not a threat and the school and law enforcement will do our due diligence tomorrow to ensure that we are providing a safe school space for all."

Kudos to the brave children that spoke up, well done! Special thanks to our teachers and staff for doing what you do with class (no pun intended).
