The students were absolute aces! The event, organized in collaboration with Matt Boggess, VPRD Director and Lions Club members saw enthusiastic participation from middle school students, Lions Club members, local community leaders and teachers in a display of camaraderie, showcasing their skills and sportsmanship. The annual event is an effort to support our community youth and Vinton Shellsburg High School Scholarships, empowering deserving students to pursue their educational dreams. Approximately two to three $1000 scholarships are awarded by Vinton Lions Club each year.

A highlight of the day was the presence of celebrity guests Chief Ted Paxton, Officer Wes Meyer, Alexa Francois, Logan Walston, Wes Recker, and Anthony Church, who added star power and encouragement to the students and event. Their efforts underscore the significance of community involvement in fostering educational opportunities for our youth.

High praise for the students who participated, all were kind and respectful with a healthy dose of sportsmanship and offering gratitude to the Vinton Lions Club volunteers. Generous donations of pickleball paddles and balls sponsored by Cedar Valley Bank and Stoney Arch Financial provided the necessary equipment for the students to excel on the court. Thank you to all our sponsors and pickleball Nike swag donated by Horst Physical Therapy.

As the event came to a close on a day filled with laughter, competition, and community spirit the Lions Club of Vinton reaffirmed its commitment to serving the local community and nurturing the next generation of leaders. It is inspiring to see the community rally together.
