On Monday, April 8th the Vinton-Shellsburg FFA Chapter held their annual Volunteer Auction. At this event, members can sign up to volunteer their time within the community doing a variety of tasks including basic chores like mowing or cooking, babysitting, working concession stands, picking rock, and gardening just to name a few.

This year, 44 students signed up to volunteer their time to the community members and businesses that agreed to commit donations totaling $19,350. Jon Winkelpleck served as the auctioneer and entertainment for the night, keeping the members on their toes.

Sophomore member Wes McKenna stated, "The auction is one of my favorite events because it helps us see how much our community supports FFA and it's always fun to see the highest bid."

This fundraiser helps FFA members attend activities like State and National Convention in addition to ensuring that all members can participate in FFA activities for little to no cost. The members of the chapter would like to thank all the supporters that provide financial assistance to the program so that members always have the opportunity to participate!
