News : VSHS Marching Band prepares for Vinton Party in the Park, and DC July 4 Parade

The Vinton-Shellsburg High School Marching Band will be representing the state of Iowa in the 2011 National Independence Day Parade in Washington D.C.

The marching band, under the direction of Mr. Karl Smith, will consist of 76 students accompanied by 13 band booster chaperones.

The band will be rehearsing this Friday, June 24 from 8:00-9:00 A.M. at Vinton-Shellsburg High School, and will be performing in Vinton’s “Party in the Park Parade” on Saturday at 5:30 P.M.

"We are very excited for this opportunity to represent our school district, community, and state at such a big national venue," said Smith.

And also thank for all the honors the bands have been honored with since you\'ve been here. (Beat Independence at the Jazz Championships!)
