Recently, the Vinton Public Library successfully completed a transformative project funded through the Libraries Transforming Communities (LTC) program by the American Library Association (ALA). This initiative aims to bolster small and rural libraries, and VPL's project is a shining example of the program's impact, joining over 240 libraries across 43 states in making a difference.

As part of the library's empowering initiative, the Vinton Public Library holds the "Next Chapter Book Club" every Wednesday morning at 10:00 a.m.  The book club is designed for adults with intellectual disabilities, which has become a cornerstone of community engagement, providing a fun, relaxed, and safe space for members to read aloud together and have meaningful conversations about the journey of implementing and completing the project, shedding light on the dedication and effort invested.

The profound impact of this project on library patrons and the broader community, illustrating how VPL goes beyond traditional library services to meet diverse community needs.

One of the vital roles of small and rural libraries in delivering essential services and the significance of programs like LTC in supporting and expanding these initiatives.

Vinton's Library Director Kelly Henkle added, "We are so grateful to have received this generous grant from the American Library Association.  We are pleased to do our part to provide relevant programming for everyone in our community!"
