After an early morning call where I needed to exit town quickly, I began my trip. Cones, and signs greeted me on Hwy 218 before I got to the edge of town. Then I headed down North K Ave. along the river to bypass the construction heading to the Mt. Auburn road...only to find a guy telling me to turn around because that road was flooded. So I did, and went down the suggested detour on the west side of Hwy. 218.
On my return to town, I decided to check out where things were flooded and found that so far we're good except on the rock road mentioned in the paragraph above, sp we're in pretty good shape.
However, the town is definitely suffering an outbreak of orange cone syndrome. We have orange cones on Highway 218 from the Casey's/Subway/Ehlinger's intersection to the corner of Mickey's Bar, and also on G Ave. which is closed from 13th St. to in front of the old Braille School.
So plan to take a few minutes extra when traveling in these areas.
It's even breaking out at Fareway...just kidding they have a post on up about the new look that we can expect to see at Fareway. I included a few pictures of that as well.
The river is nothing like it was in 2008, at least not yet and let's hope not ever again! Remember just a few weeks ago how you could just about walk across the river on the sandy bottom? Not anymore!
So be extra observant out there. Slow down, and dodge the cones, cars and pedestrians!
