Vinton's Party in the Park took place Thursday the 27th through Saturday the 29th of June. Many of the Vinton-Shellsburg FFA members helped set up and volunteer at the local celebration. Members volunteered in the petting zoo, Community Supper, Alumni Beverage Booth, distributing trash cans, and even had some fun by running the Party in Pink 5K.
On Thursday morning, members put trash cans out by the bank and downtown to keep streets clean during the festivities. On Friday morning members set out the Vinton-Shellsburg FFA trash barrels and redemption bins throughout Riverside Park. On Saturday of the celebration, members volunteered at the petting zoo. At the petting zoo children got to interact with baby pigs, ducks, chickens, goats, cows, rabbits, and guinea pigs. At the petting zoo, members also taught children how to make bracelets at a craft station. The FFA Alumni & Supporters had a beverage booth where they sold flavored sodas. Members of the Vinton-Shellsburg FFA Chapter volunteered and helped mix and sell the sodas. Members also participated in the Party in Pink 5K, helping to raise awareness of breast cancer. Members participated in the 5K to show their support and raise funds for Gifts of Hope. Raine Wheeler said, "It was a great way to show support for breast cancer awareness while also bonding with other FFA members."
The Party in the Park was a great event for the Vinton-Shellsburg FFA to support their community and provide interactive experiences with animals.
