Farm Rescue provides planting, haying, harvesting, commodity hauling, and livestock feeding assistance to families who have experienced a major illness, injury, or natural disaster. They believe that every farm and ranch family deserves the dignity of a helping hand.

National Farm Rescuer Day is celebrated on the third Thursday of March and is recognized annually. One of those highlighted farmers is a local volunteer who helps to make this possible.

Drew Fish of Vinton was recognized as the July Farm Rescuer of the Month.

Farm Rescuer shared that "Drew works as a Factory Automation Engineer with John Deere. He grew up farming and still spends plenty of time in the field outside of his full-time job. In 1998, Drew's father was injured in a farming accident and he appreciated the support their family received from friends and neighbors in harvesting their crop. He was looking for an opportunity to pay that kindness forward to others in need, so he decided to sign up as a volunteer for Farm Rescue. This is Drew's first year serving our organization and he's already shown an amazing passion and talent for supporting our efforts. He was a key member of two planting assistance crews this spring, forming quick bonds with his fellow volunteers and the families receiving their help. Drew has been a valued addition to our Angel in Blue family and we look forward to seeing him behind the wheel again soon!"
