Early spring of 2024, Iowa River Apparel (Marengo, IA) owner, Paul Stults, approached the Benton County Conservation Foundation (BCCF) with hopes of offering a Hannen Lake Park shirt fundraiser. The BCCF was excited to see the enthusiasm and supported Paul in his endeavors for the fundraiser.

Paul joined the BCCF, saw the momentum of the shirt sales, and with his wife, Sherri Stults, and many volunteers, put on a benefit supper for Hannen Lake Park. The supper was held on April 27th, 2024 at the Blairstown American Legion Post and was successful due to donations, including one from Thrivent.

With the help of the dedicated volunteers from the Blairstown area, the shirt fundraisers and benefit dinner brought in $5,100 to be used where needed at Hannen Lake Park. Funding will be utilized at Hannen Lake Park with agreement from the BCCF and the guidance of the Benton County Conservation Board (BCCB) and staff.

The shirt sales had two rounds of printing so far, with one more on the way, which will open Labor Day weekend. Reach out to Iowa River Apparel for orders.

BCCF and BCCB invites anyone interested in learning more about the BCCF and all the things the 501©3 does to reach out to foundation@bentoncountyparks.com, call 319-472-4942, or go to www.bentoncountyia.gov/conservation.
