Tuesday's meeting of the Benton County Supervisor's began at 9:00 a.m. All three supervisors were present, Rick Primmer, Tracy Seeman and Gary Bierschenck.
The agenda and minutes were approved.
Also approved was a Special Class C Retail Alcohol License for Kacena Family Tree Farm, Inc.
Discussion and approval was held concerning the Benton County Handbook for sections 4.2-4.5, dealing with vacation time and sick leave. That information can be seen here.
Myron Parizek, Engineer submitted for approval a Utility Permit for Alliant Energy in Cedar Township. Shane Clark of Seconday Roads was promoted to the working grade forman position effective on Monday, August 26, 2024 at $29.47 an hour.
A discussion was held concerning the resignation of HR Director, Sue Wilber. That can be read HERE.
The Salem Cemetery Association representative Tim Sage discussed and asked for approval of an increase of fees for care of soldier's graves for all cemeteries across the county. Tracy Seeman will be doing some research on the topic and will bring it back to the board. The supervisors will address this next week.
The supervisors the entered a Closed Session pursuant to Iowa Code Section 21.5(1)(C.) -To discuss strategy with counsel in matters that are presently in litigation or where litigation is imminent where its disclosure would be likely to prejudice or disadvantage the position of the governmental body in that litigation.
Under reports, Seeman reported that he had started the concrete projects last Thursday. He reported that the work on the west side of the transportation building is complete. On Monday, he finished the sidewalks on the east side and poured a slab for a bench. Bierschenk reported that he has meetings coming up, and Primmer agreed that he too has a packed agenda at the end of the month.
