The Benton County Above the Influence Coalition and the Belle Plaine Police Department are pleased to announce a prescription drug drop off event on April 24, 2010. From 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Belle Plaine City Hall, citizens may drop off any expired, unused, or unwanted medications to be properly disposed of. All medications in pill form will be accepted.

70% of prescription drug abusers get their drugs from family and friends. Through prescription drug drop off events, controlled substances such as Vicodin, OxyContin, Valium, and many others can be disposed of safely and with out harming the environment. Disposing of these drugs properly helps prevent the abuse of prescription medications and reduces the chances of these medications being improperly circulated within the community. For more information on the abuse of prescription drugs, visit www.abovetheinfluence.com
