News : Garrison fires \'suspicious;\' fire marshal investigating

The Iowa Fire Marshal's Office is investigating two 'suspicious' fires in Garrison.

Two fires in Garrison that occurred within minutes of each other Thursday have been described as "suspicious." An officer from the Iowa Fire Marshal's Office inspected two structures Thursday afternoon, and will present a report in the near future.

Garrison Fire Chief Steve Meyer said the fires occurred at 206 Beech Street, near the Garrison City Park, and at 404 West Maple. Both fires began around 12:30 p.m. No injuries were reported. Meyer said the Maple Street fire caused very little damage, but the mobile home on Beech, along with virtually all of its contents, was destroyed.
