Laurie Orner along with her husband Mike and their sons Brock, Brady and Brant raise a small herd of 20 cattle outside of Shellsburg. Naturally, the scenery lends itself to the sort of photo contest that Ortner entered a few months ago.
In a contest organized by the Iowa Cattlemen's Association, the "I am an Iowa Cattleman" the contest brought more than 200 entries of cattle of every kind.
The board of the ICA narrowed the photos down to just 100 and then loaded the entries onto Facebook where voting on the photos took off. (A special thank you to the Vinton Today Facebook readers who voted and help to make this possible!)
After narrowing it down to just 10 entries, the contest moved on to the Iowa State Fair, where attendees had a chance to vote for Ortner's photo. Voting there helped to put it over the top.
You can now watch for her photo which will now be featured in the October issue of the 'Iowa Cattleman' magazine!
Congratulations Laurie!
