The popular eastern Iowa band Castle Ridge will be performing Friday evening from 7-9 p.m. at the Cobblestone Inn & Suites in Vinton.
Castle Ridge is a three piece acoustic ensemble performing bluegrass, old-time country and swing. Castle Ridge has been performing in Iowa, Minnesota, Illinois and Missouri since 2005, and has one CD to its credit. Castle Ridge performances include an eclectic mix of harmony vocals and instrumental numbers both fast and slow mixed in a way to keep audiences wanting more.
This show will be close up and personal, giving the audience a chance to visit with the band and get to know them better. The show will also feature some guest performances including a few songs by Vinton's own Todd Frank.
Members of Castle Ridge include Roger Anderson (bass & vocals), Mark Clark (guitar & vocals) and Joy Ward (fiddle & vocals). These fine musicians have been performing and recording for many years. Mark Clark first recorded with The Greater Chicago Bluegrass Band in 1974 while Joy Ward began her recording career in Albuquerque, New Mexico in the 1990s appearing on numerous CDs by many well known artists. In addition to his performances and radio appearances, Roger Anderson also builds instruments. He is currently playing a standup bass of his own making which won a blue ribbon and best in show at the Iowa State Fair in 2008.
Admission to the concert in the lobby of the Cobblestone Inn on Highway 218 is free; tips are welcome.
