Get ready, Eastern Iowa! One of our own is about to make waves on national television. Justin Meredith, a Benton County native, will be showcasing his moonshining talents on Discovery's hit show Moonshiners: Master Distiller this Tuesday night, January 21st at 8:00 p.m.
The popular series pits three contestants against each other each week in a spirited battle to craft the best liquor possible. According to IMDB, competitors face a series of challenges focused on creating a specific type of spirit, and this week, the pressure is on with none other than celebrity chef Robert Irvine serving as a guest judge.
This week's episode, titled "Chef-Distiller Showdown," brings a unique twist to the competition. The official description teases, "Nobody knows more about flavor than professional chefs. Guest Judge Robert Irvine presides over a pressure cooker of competition as three experienced chefs battle to turn raw ingredients into high-proof, culinary-classic spirits."
Justin, who currently lives near Mount Auburn but grew up in the Garrison area, announced his exciting TV debut late last December. He shared that his journey to the show began back in the spring of 2024. Justin said that the nerves are starting to set in before his debut appearance on the show.
Fans of the show and local supporters can catch Justin in action on Tuesday, January 21st, at 8 p.m. on Discovery. If you miss the initial airing, don't worry-encore presentations will air at midnight on Wednesday and again on Saturday, January 25th, at 9 a.m.
We can't wait to see how Justin fares in the competition and will be sure to keep you updated with the results. Tune in and cheer on our hometown moonshiner as he takes on the best in the business!
