It is with great pride that we recognize Vinton-Shellsburg High School senior Megan Schlitter as the recipient of the January Difference Maker Award! Megan's unwavering dedication to service and leadership has made a profound impact on our school and community.
Last summer, Megan returned from a life-changing trip to Washington, D.C., and was inspired to develop a Living to Serve project that would address food insecurity. Through her remarkable efforts, she organized and led a team of volunteers to package an incredible 40,000 meals. Thanks to her vision and coordination, half of these meals will be distributed locally to food banks in Benton County, ensuring that families in our own community receive support.
Megan's leadership, compassion, and commitment to service exemplify what it means to be a Vinton-Shellsburg Difference Maker. We are incredibly proud of her hard work and the positive impact she has made.
We would also like to recognize Gabby Power, Megan's teacher, who consistently goes above and beyond to support and encourage her students. Gabby's dedication to fostering leadership and service-mindedness in her students is invaluable, and we are so thankful to have her as part of the Vinton-Shellsburg family.
Congratulations, Megan, on this well-deserved recognition, and thank you, Gabby, for your continued commitment to excellence!
