On Saturday, March 8th the Vinton-Shellsburg FFA Chapter got the opportunity to take 42 hard working FFA members to the Waterloo Career Center to participate in the Northeast District Convention. These members all participated in Leadership Development Events (LDE'S). These members have been dedicated to their respective events and invested countless hours of hard work over the last few months. Additionally, two members retired from their year of service in District positions including Reporter Alana Fleming and Secretary Andrew Pingenot.

The chapter was recognized for their National Chapter Award submission and seven members received the Academic Award: Lucas Birker, Sadie Burke, Alana Fleming, Brody Waters, Izzie Birker, Megan Schlitter, and Andrew Pingenot. Contests advancing to State include: Conduct of Chapter Meetings (Cole Birker, Zoey McClintock, Jenna Grovert, Jameson Demuth, Nora Grovert, Jonah Meyer, and Abby McKenna) receiving 2nd Gold, Ag Broadcasting (Raine Wheeler) receiving 2nd Gold, Job Interview (Alana Fleming) receiving 1st Gold, Treasurer's Book (Will McKenna) receiving 2nd Gold, Reporter's Book (Izzie Birker and Sophia Newton) receiving 1st Gold, and Secretary's Book (Megan Schlitter) receiving 2nd Gold.

Alternates to State include: Program of Activities (Megan Schlitter, Will McKenna, and Eleanor Moen) and Extemporaneous Speaking (Andrew Pingenot), both receiving 3rd Gold, and Ag Impact (Will Kreutner, Wyatt Shaver, Kendalyn Appleby, and Madeline Pingenot) receiving Silver. Additionally, Farm Business Management Team (Andrew Allsup, Ben Buhr, Ben McGowan, Brody Waters, and Cooper McClintock) received 1st with Allsup receiving 2nd individual, Greenhand Quiz (Chloe Bena-White) received Bronze, Chapter Website (Bri Dulin) received Silver, Parliamentary Procedure (Ciara Dods, Ali Lutz, Kassidi Brunssen, Levi Lutz, Kirsten Pettit, and Leif Allen) received Silver, Experience the Action (Juliana Luis, Steven Rogers, Zane Helter, Landon Wygle, Kara Rollinger, Sophia Newton, Lily Ann Hesson, Brie Carolan, and Carlie Clark) received Silver, Creed Speaking (Katelyn Fleming) received Gold, Ag Sales (Izzie Birker) received Silver, and one member was balloted for Southeast Subdistrict Vice President (Will McKenna).

The chapter is proud of the many members that participated and wish them luck as they prepare for the State Convention.
