News : Vinton weather station destroyed by storm

With the weather at dangerously hot temperatures well into the 90s this week, some Vinton Today readers were surprised to see the weather link at the top of our home page list today's temperature as zero.

But that is a result of the July 11 wind storm, the casualties of which included Jason Hicok's weather station. The volunteer meteorolgist offered this report to us about his equipment. The information from Jason's weather station had been transmitted automatically to Vinton Today, until the storm damaged his equipment and broke that link.

"My weather station is currently buried under my swing set," said Jason. "I am not sure if it's operable or not. Until I find out if it can be repaired, there won't be valid data for the weather station to see. I could probably come up with something in the mean time if people are asking based on info from other sites. I'll try to do that."
