On Saturday, during the Garrison Fun Day Breakfast sponsored by the Garrison Public Library, Angela Dauge was recognized and presented with a plaque by Mayor Garrett Flickinger for her community service.

"Why did she get the award? Let me start by saying she is the face of our library. We have had many members on the board and most have moved on to other things or simply moved away. She has been with us through the 2011 Derecho when our old library was destroyed, fighting and fundraising for the new one we have today," Allan Lindsey said. "It was a lot, Angela and the board fundraised like crazy, he said.

When the bids were opened, everyone's heart sank, it was way more than expected, The architect coordinated with the lowest builder and the community was able to build the shell. The board raised more funds. They volunteered and donated sweat equity to finish the inside, room by room. "It took several years but we have a great library, community room, and City office," Lindsey said. Angela also serves as our City Clerk.

Angela has taken the library to where it is, helps the children with Legos, received a STEM grant, conducts reading programs, created a pantry for the community and coordinates the summer lunch program for the kids and much more. She has always had a great library board behind her.  "I hope for many more years the kids love her and the community backs her. So I will Close by saying Congratulations a well deserved award!" Lindsey added.
