July was a busy month for our area EMS. In mid-July, the local teams worked together training with the LifeGuard Air Ambulance. Flying in from St. Lukes, the various crews learned about safety around the helicopter, operations of the air ambulance and scene safety.
Members from the North Benton Ambulance, Vinton Police, Vinton Fire and the Benton County Sheriff's Office came together to train on helicopter operations and scene safety. In other news, the North Benton Ambulance rebuild happened a bit sooner than had been expected. They said that they had hoped to put a few more miles and a few more months on the old A63, but the engine had other plans. Fortunately, the ambulance service was able to have their rebuild moved up in production. The ambulance made the trip from Sterling, Illinois back to Vinton with a 2026 E450 chassis, remodeled box, new paint scheme and an auto load system for the cot. The "vote yes for EMS" last November helped to make this possible for the community.
A special thanks to all of those involved in our emergency services!
