Heading to the Iowa State Fair? Be sure to stop by the Varied Industries Building from August 7-17. State Treasurer Roby Smith encourages fairgoers to check out two booths that could put money in your pocket or help a child in your life. Visitors can search their name and favorite business to see if they are among the 1 in 7 Iowans in Great Iowa Treasure Hunt with unclaimed property. In addition, fairgoers can also visit the ISave 529 booth to enter a child in their life to win $1,000 toward their education!

"Whether you're searching for lost property you didn't realize the state was safekeeping or want a chance to win $1,000 for a child's education - stopping by the Great Iowa Treasure Hunt and the ISave 529 booths are a great use of your time," said Treasurer Smith. "On top of that, take advantage of all the opportunities to celebrate Iowa's youth, agriculture and more during our state's iconic eleven-day spectacular - the Iowa State Fair!"

In addition to all the fun for adults - kids can get in on the action too! At the ISave 529 booth, children are invited to take part in a survey where they can share their dream career when they grow up. This fun, non-scientific poll will ask what Iowa children are dreaming of and the question on everyone's mind - their favorite fair food!

More About Our Programs: Whether it's a forgotten or lost check, bank account, utility refund or safe deposit box, more than 587,000 individuals and businesses have funds in Great Iowa Treasure Hunt. As Iowa's only legitimate source of unclaimed property, Treasurer Smith encourages all past and present Iowans to search for their unclaimed property by visiting GreatIowaTreasureHunt.gov.

ISave 529 is a tax-advantaged savings plan that helps families set aside money for future qualified educational expenses, including room and board, tuition, books and more. Whether a child decides to attend a four-year, two-year or technical school, these funds can help them support their future goals.
