Rep. Dawn Pettengill (R-Mt. Auburn) released information from the Iowa Workforce Development and the Iowa National Guard regarding bringing workforce services directly to Iowa’s veterans.

These two departments will be bringing workforce services through access points to 42 armories throughout the state. Veterans will be offered a variety of services and resources to help them locate full-time employment after having served overseas. According to Workforce Development, services available will be: job searches, resume assistance, educational and veteran-specific resources.

“I’m pleased the Guard and Workforce Development are taking the initiative to reach out to Iowa’s soldiers,” said Pettengill. “It’s important to get all Iowans back to work and assisting those who have so bravely served is a step in the right direction.”

In 2010, nearly 3,000 Iowa National Guard soldiers were mobilized, making it the largest deployment of service men and women since World War II.
