A new school year, new School Resource Officers! In the Vinton-Shellsburg Community School District, Officer Kris Stephenson will be joining the district. The school said that he "will be working with students, staff and familes to help keep our schools safe, build positive relationships, and serve as a trusted resource in our district."

In the Benton Community School District, the Benton County Sheriff's Department announced that, Deputy Tiffany DeBoer will be embedded in the school district.

The department shared, "A School Resource Officer not only helps keep the students and staff safe, but also serves as a mentor and positive role model for our youth. By being present in the school each day, Deputy DeBoer will build relationships, provide guidance, and give students a chance to see the positive side of law enforcement.We are grateful for this partnership with Benton Community and look forward to the impact this position will have in supporting our students, strengthening trust, and ensuring a safe learning environment for all!"
