Government : Benton County Board of Supervisor Minutes August 19, 2025

The Benton County Board of Supervisors met in regular session with Supervisors Seeman, Tippett and Volz present. Chairman Seeman called the meeting to order at 9:00 a.m. at the Benton County Service Center. Members of the public are invited to join in during open session or watch the livestream at https://www.youtube.com/bentoncountyiowa. Full Resolutions will be available in the Auditor’s office and at: www.bentoncountyia.gov

Tippett moved/ Volz seconded: To approve the agenda. Tippett, Seeman and Volz voting aye. Motion carried.

Tippett moved/ Volz seconded: To approve minutes from August 12, 2025. All members voting aye. Motion carried.

Tippett moved/ Volz seconded: To approve the use of the courthouse lawn for the Vinton Cruise Committee on Saturday, September 20, 2025. Tippett, Seeman and Volz voting aye. Motion carried.

Volz moved/ Tippett seconded: To set land use hearing date for Jonathan Kaine and Tasha Ritchart in part of the NW ¼ of SE ¼ of Section 28-84-9, for Tuesday September 16, 2025 at 9:15 a.m. Tippett, Seeman and Volz voting aye. Motion carried.

Volz moved/ Tippett seconded: To set land use hearing date for Dennis and Barbara Garling in part of the SW ¼ of NE ¼ of Section 21-82-12, for Tuesday September 16, 2025 at 9:30 a.m. Tippett, Seeman and Volz voting aye. Motion carried.

Tippett moved/Volz seconded: To approve farm exemption application for Greg and Carlene Silhanek, from Silhanek Family Trust for Parcel C in the S ½ of the SW ¼ and Parcel D in the SE ¼ of the NW ¼ of Section 24-84-12. Tippett, Seeman and Volz voting aye. Motion carried.

Supervisor Volz reported on last week’s department head meeting regarding the wellness committee. Volz asked Auditor Rippel to send out an email and gather each department’s representative who will be serving on the committee to meet quarterly.

Supervisor Seman reported on his recent REAP committee meeting along with some concerns of a sink hole out to the Cedar Valley Ranch. They want to get a meeting set up similar to what we have done in the past, and get a tour to the new Board members.

Seeman moved/ Volz seconded: To adjourn meeting at 9:23 a.m. Tippett, Seeman and Volz voting aye. Motion carried.
