Many of you may (or may not) know that this upcoming spring, Vinton-Shellsburg is going to be hosting an Iowa High School Speech Association (IHSSA) State Individual Events (IE) Contest on Saturday, March 14th.  As a result of this, sites that host contests also host a judge certification workshop for anyone that would like to become an IHSSA judge.

Why judge an IHSSA contest?
You get to meet lots of fun students, coaches, parents, and volunteers.
You'll see so many neat event categories, performances, and the hard work that it took to put on that performance.
You get paid for your time ($125 for a day of judging) and you get fed well (and for free).  This is a really fun way to get out and meet many different people and to pick up a little part-time pay.

You can be a judge for 1 contest or multiple contests.  We have a Large Group season & an IE season.  Many conferences (including the WaMaC) have contests before districts and on different dates.  You can judge at conference contests, districts, and state.

There are many other reasons that I'm sure we could go on about why it's a lot of fun to be an IHSSA judge, but those are just a sample.

THIS WEDNESDAY, from 6:30-8 pm, Vinton-Shellsburg will be hosting an IHSSA Judge Certification Workshop in the LMC at VSHS.  We'd love to have you come if you are interested.

If you can't make it on Wednesday, there are a few others within a reasonable driving distance from here that you can attend if you're interested.  Click Here for a listing of the other judge certification sites.  For more information about becoming an IHSSA judge, please check out: https://www.ihssa.org/judges/

If you have any questions about this OR if judging isn't your thing and you'd be interested in helping out at State IE Contest on Saturday, March 14th, please reach out to myself (mark.nall@govikes.org) or to Hanna Wall at (hanna.wall@govikes.org)
