Today was the first day of school for dozens of Vinton-Shellsburg Kindergarten students. Parents had the option of sending them to school in Vinton either Monday or Tuesday before daily classes begin on Wednesday.
Shellsburg's two Kindergarten classes were filled on Monday morning, as teachers Kelsey Blattler and Jodi Hacker helped the students with coloring and reading assignments.
In Vinton, the students in Mrs. Higgins class familiarized themselves with their teachers and classmates by singing, "Hi-ho, the dairy-o, I know..." and then filling the name of each student or staff member.
