The members of the Prayer Shawl Ministry who meet every Tuesday at the Vinton Library have made a variety of items to help a variety of people. (See an earlier story HERE)

Along with the prayer shawls, they make toys, hats mittens and other items.

Now, some of them have been using the camouflage colors related to the U.S. military for their latest project: Scarves for U.S. service personnel in Afghanistan.

Club member Polly Williams received a call from a Manchester quilting business owner, telling her of an effort to collect 75 scarves for service personnel. Polly made a couple scarves, and asked her friends in the Prayer Shawl Ministry to help. Tammy Surface of Vinton has made eight of those scarves, and Ruby Bearbower of Brandon made 10 more. The scarves will soon be on their way to Manchester for shipment to the Middle East in time to protect soldiers from the winter winds there.
