Since 1960, the Vinton Kiwanis Club members have rolled up their sleeves, laced up their most comfortable shoes, tied on their aprons and walked into the kitchen to begin cooking their spring breakfast. They began bright and early at 7:00 a.m. this past Saturday morning. They grabbed the pancake flippers and fired up the grill. The group prepared pancakes, scrambled eggs, and sausage, then cheerfully fed around 450 residents. The funds raised go directly into the community to support area projects for children.
The proceeds they raise go right back into the community. The Kiwanis can be seen working at area events and supporting improvements at the Kiwanis Park, college scholarships, dictionaries for 3rd graders, bringing Santa to their annual Kiwanis Christmas party for special needs children, they also round up the Easter bunny for the annual Easter Egg Hunt, and they can be seen assisting with Party in the Park, and Operation Backpack.
Thanks to the support of the community at these breakfasts, the Vinton Kiwanis continues to brighten this little corner of the world!
