Friends, neighbors and families gathered at the historic Bear Creek Cemetery and Bear Creek Church over the Memorial Day weekend to honor the memory of loved ones and veterans who have passed away. The annual gathering brought the community together for a morning of remembrance, fellowship and reflection in the peaceful rural setting.

The morning began with a breakfast served before the memorial service, giving attendees an opportunity to visit with one another and share memories of family members and friends who are no longer with them.

During the service, those in attendance paused in reverence as the traditional 21-gun salute echoed across the cemetery grounds, followed by the solemn playing of taps. The ceremony served as a reminder of the sacrifices made by generations of servicemen and women, as well as the importance of remembering all those who helped shape the community through their lives and service.

A brief message was shared with attendees, encouraging those gathered to reflect on the meaning of Memorial Day and the importance of preserving the memories and stories of those who came before them.

The annual service continues to be a meaningful tradition for many area families, offering a chance to reconnect with neighbors, honor veterans and loved ones, and remember the enduring ties that bind the community together across generations.
