Approximately 30 Benton County area children learned how to stay safe on the farm at the annual Farm Safety Day led by the Iowa State University Extension and its partner sponsors.

Children learned how to prevent accidents involving machinery, tractors, mowers and chemicals at a variety of stations. At other stations, they learned the correct way to dial 911 and how to provide emergency first aid if an accident does occur.

The Vinton Fire Department sent several members to the event. They helped teach the children how to use fire extinguishers.
