Fourth Grade students at Tilford Elementary exchanged pennies for kazoos, sports missiles and other prizes on Friday, as they continued their Penny Wars.

The V-S Dollars for Scholars is sponsoring penny wars for the 4th graders at Tilford Elementary. The campgaing began May 3, and ends this Friday, May 14.

As with penny wars, all pennies will count as pennies and all other coins will subtract from the total of pennies collected. Each classroom is trying to collect the most pennies.

At the end of the two weeks, the class with the most pennies collected will be the winning class and receive a prize. The money will be put into a saving account and be held until these 4th graders are seniors in High School and a scholarship will be presented to one of them for the money collected.

On Friday, the students met with staff from Cedar Valley Bank & Trust, who taught them about saving and also helped count pennies. Prizes were awarded to those who brought pennies.
