Jacob Bunge of Vinton-Shellsburg High School has attained the highest individual honor available to Iowa high school musicians by being selected as a member of the 2011 All-State Chorus. Jacob Bunge is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Mark and Karen Bunge of Garrison, Iowa and is a vocal student of Mr. Eric Mohlis.
The 2011 Festival will celebrate the 65th anniversary of this prestigious event. District Auditions for the 280-piece All-State Band, 202-piece All-State Orchestra and 602-member All-State Chorus were held Saturday, October 22, 2011, at Storm Lake, Hampton, Manchester, Harlan, Indianola, and Fairfield.
Approximately 17% of the students who audition are selected for membership in the All-State ensembles. Participants will rehearse in Ames on Friday and Saturday, November 18 and 19, and the Festival Concert will be presented to the public at 7:30 P.M. in Hilton Coliseum, Iowa State University, Ames, on Saturday evening, November 19, 2011. Iowa Public Television will record the concert for re-broadcast. Please check the IPTV website (www.iptv.org) for the exact dates and times. this program is under the auspices of the Iowa High School Music Association and the Iowa Music Educators Association.
Tickets are $18.00 each and all seats are reserved.
There are two methods tickets may be obtained for the Iowa All-State Festival Concert:
Method 1 - ISU Athletics Ticket Office - At Window (on Sale October 24th, 2011 at 10:00 AM). The ISU Athletics Ticket Office is located on the west side fo the Jacobson Athletic Building in Ames, Iowa. The Ticket Office is open Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. There will be a $5.00 per ticket handling fee.
Method 2 - Ticketmaster - Orders my abe placed by phone, online (www.ticketmaster.com), or at any Iowa Ticketmaster outlet. Phone: 1-800-745-3000. Ticketmaster will charge a per-ticket convenience fee.
